Chuck Enables Pneumatic Workholding
Eastec 2019: The Erowa PowerChuck P’s added feature is said to extend the application possibilities.

When combining Erowa’s PowerChuck P’s two integrated compressed air ducts with the P pallet (148 mm diameter), the user can operate palletized fixtures pneumatically. This enables fixtures to be loaded with the workpieces during an automated process. An adapter plate can be used if the air ducts in the pallet and the fixture do not match. The company can also customize pallets with the required connection hole pattern.
The system is mounted on the base of the machine tool. The compressed air for operating the chuck and fixture is supplied to the chuck from below the machine table or through the air connections on the side. Air ducts and two membranes built into the chuck housing guide the compressed air into the pallet. It is then fed through air ducts in the pallet, supplying the fixture with compressed air to enable pneumatic actuation.
The air duct provides pressure ranging to 9 bar, with membranes ensuring a reliable and leak-free air supply.
The system is said to accommodate pallets and electrode holders without air ducts.
