The end mills’ Sumo Tec coating treatment is said to produce a smoother, more lubricious surface, with fewer thermal stresses and stress factors compared to an untreated plain PVD or CVD coating. As a result, the inserts can cut at cooler temperatures with less friction and with reduced risk of rupture.
