Available from Methods Machine Tools, the Methods-Yasda PX-30i is a five-axis high-precision automated vertical machining center designed to meet OEM and job shop requirements. The machine is a result of collaboration between Methods and Yasda aimed at creating a precise, reliable and versatile machining center at a cost-effective price.
The VMC features a Yasda direct-drive spindle with self-adjusting preload designed to improve performance and increase spindle life. The spindle’s torque, speed and horsepower are said to facilitate efficient machining of materials ranging from aluminum to high-temperature alloys including Inconel, titanium and steels with high hardness ratings.
The machining center’s two-axis rotary table offers flexibility and speed with a wide range of movement. The B and C axes feature a direct-drive motor and offer thermal stability to promote efficiency and accuracy. The bridge and bed designs are designed for high rigidity, and the machine table and work envelope are sized for ease of operation. The VMC’s footprint measures 25 × 11 ft.
The PX-30i is designed to be a turnkey automated machining center solution for manufacturing requirements such as high volume, low mix or low volume, high mix operations with various lot sizes, part geometries and materials. The machine offers 32 pallet positions in storage and one in the workzone for a total of 33, enabling lights-out or unattended manufacturing. The automatic toolchanger and automatic pallet changer feature software developed by Methods for efficient tool and pallet management as well as advanced scheduling functions. The ATC can be retrofitted for tool capacities ranging to 500.
