Breton’s Ultrix 1000 RT HD high speed five-axis machining center is designed for small batch production of small- to medium-size workpieces such as wheels and rings ranging to 1,200 mm in diameter. The versatile machine is suited for milling, drilling, threading and turning in steel, aluminum, super-alloy and composite materials, the company says. The gantry-type structure features a mobile cross-beam, and five-axis motion is provided by three linear axes and a rotary tilting worktable. The machine is equipped with a 75-kW, 500-Nm, 14,000-rpm spindle.
The table rotates around a C axis capable of reaching 100 rpm in milling and 1,000 rpm in turning. The tilting A axis can reach 100 rpm. Rapid traverse rates range to 60 m/min. in the linear axes. Models are available with either 800- or 1,000-mm-diameter table sizes in four-, five-axis with tilting rotary and heavy-duty versions.
