With the development of the C 20 UP, Hermle Machine Co. addresses the need for a machining center dedicated to small- to medium-sized applications. A modified gantry design provides for three linear axes in the tool and two rotary axes in the trunion.
Ìý
The machine is constructed on a one-piece poured mineral casting base, which offers vibration dampening properties and low thermal conductivity.Ìý XYZ axis travels are 600 mm, 450 mm and 450 mm, respectively.Ìý In addition, the linear axes have a rapid traverse rate of 45 m/min, with the A and C axes operating at 25 rpm.
Ìý
The standard spindle speed is 10,000 rpm (16,000 rpm or 40,000 rpm are optional), with a SK40 interface (HSK A63, HSK E40 optional).Ìý The machine is also equipped with a 30-tool, expandable tool magazine. By incorporating Ìý additional magazines, additional 43 or 87 pockets can be created.Ìý
Ìý
Other features include a chip-to-chip time of 4.5 seconds; an NC swiveling rotary table that accommodates pallets measuring 320 mm × 320 mm at 400 mm in diameter or pallets of 400 mm × 400 mm at 500 mm in diameter; and a swivel range of ±115 degrees. The maximum table load is 300 kg.Ìý
