BIG Kaiser’s high-precision hydraulic chuck is designed for clamping straight-shank tools with diameters ranging from ¼" to 1¼" and 6 to 32 mm. The chuck holds drills, reamers, ball mills, end mills and other tools used in processes with stringent accuracy and fine surface finish requirements, the company says. The precise, stable toolholder is designed for use in the automotive, aerospace and medical industries.
The hydraulic chucks are pre-balanced to within 15 gr-mm to reduce vibration at speeds ranging to 20,000 rpm. An integral sleeve construction, dual oil-pressure points and a short projection length are said to improve precision and rigidity. Runout accuracy is less than 0.00012" (3 microns) at 4×D, and repeatability is less than 0.00006" (1.5 microns). These features are said to improve surface finish and extend tool life. The chucks are available for BIG-Plus (CAT and BT), HSK and Capto interfaces.
