Machine-Vision System Uses Shadows for Instant Measurement
IMTS 2018: The Oasis Inspection System is a machine-vision system that creates a shadow of small parts, and then measures every dimension on that image at the same time.

Oasis Inspection Systems offers a machine-vision system that creates a shadow of a small part, and then measures every dimension on that image at the same time. It achieves a repeatable accuracy of ±0.0001", according to the company. Measurements are compared against process control limits and tolerances, with an immediate visual display of whether dimensions are good, bad or at a warning level. This data can be exported to a user’s software program for statistical process control, saved on the system’s on-board computer or imported into an Excel inspection report. The Oasis is designed for use on the shop floor near the machines that are producing the parts for effective feedback.
