Machining Center Has Scalable Tool Storage Tower And More
Share

Now available from Mikron are the HSM 600(U) ProdMod and HSM 800 ProdMod machining centers. Among other performance-enhancing features, is a tool storage tower that is designed to reduce change-over times by as much as 50 percent, while offering scalability for large-format, high speed machining.
The Production Module (ProdMod) tower offers compact positioning of scalable tools. It is constructed with a suspended circular shelf, offering 120, 170 and 220 tool positions. This arrangement decreases change-over times because the central gripper is separated from transfer handling. With “double tool handling,” chip-to-chip time requires approximately 5 seconds.
Designed for five-axis machining of large workpieces weighing as much as 2,200 lbs, the machine offers intelligent automation with pallet tables, as opposed to T-slot tales. To maximize flexibility, various pallet chuck table configurations are available. Several clamping options, including 3R-Dynafix, Erowa UPC, Mecatool GPS 240 and 32" × 24" (800 mm × 600 mm) Mikron pallets are offered as well.
