SLM Solutions will feature its SLM 280HL metal additive manufacturing system, a mid-range machine with a build envelope measuring 280 × 280 × 350 mm. The machine features a bi-directional re-coater blade to fresh powder on the build plate in both directions and reduce build times. Multiple laser configurations, including twin 400-W lasers or dual lasers of 400 and 1000 W, are also said to increase build speeds.
The machine uses inert gas handling to minimize the risk of operator exposure to metal powders and promote top material quality. The company provides open system architecture for materials and parameters, enabling machines to operate in-house with standard or individualized parameters. Individual developments on the machine can be transferred to other machines, such as the larger SLM 500HL platform.
