The company's USST brand retention knobs are individually magnetic particle tested to ensure material integrity. These knobs also have the manufacturing date, batch number and part number clearly laser marked on each retention knob. Made from 8620, heat-treated to Rc 56/58, the retention knobs are made to all applicable standards (ANSI, JMTBA, DIN), and coolant holes are left non-carburized. In addition, a vast majority of the retention knobs feature stronger threads, resulting from thread rolling, and all knobs feature a high quality black oxide treatment to ensure long life, says the company.
