Renishaw’s XCal-View software for laser calibration data analysis is the first part of a planned software suite covering data capture, analysis and error compensation. The software is designed for increased functionality and flexibility, and is compatible with Renishaw’s ML10, XL-80 and XR20-W rotary-axis laser calibration systems. The software supports linear, angular (including rotary), straightness, squareness, linear parallelism and angular parallelism measurements. Users are able to select, edit and format data in a variety of graph formats through the interface.
The software’s generic error compensation function also enables assessment of machine errors and creation of linear compensation files. A compare function overlays multiple data sets on the same screen for monitoring the effect of mechanical and servo adjustments, or comparing different types of data sets such as linear and yaw errors. A profile entry screen displays expected compensated performance overlaid on the original test data.
A zero-point shifting function enables offsetting the data so that the effective zero position is different from the one used for data capture. According to the company, this feature is useful for carrying out error compensation of rotary axes. All graphs, statistics and data can be transferred to other software such as Microsoft Excel and most email programs. The software also enables generating and printing of PDF reports.
