Machinists Star in Web Series
A new web series from Hurco features real machinists at work. Its goal is to interest young people in manufacturing and machining careers.

It’s not enough to encourage students to take STEM courses or talk about worker shortages in order to close the skills gap; to attract the Next Generation workforce, young people need to see what manufacturing is really like. CycleStart, a new web series created by in partnership with and with support from , shows real machinists at work to give viewers a taste of the challenges and rewards of a manufacturing career.
Each of the short episodes (about six minutes each) takes place in a work environment, with a featured machinist completing a task and explaining each step to the viewer. For example, the first episode features Adam, a machinist for S-3 Industries of Ontario, Canada, who describes his work as he manufactures an aluminum part on a three-axis CNC mill.
