Omax’s 7/15 Mini Maxjet 5i nozzle for micro-abrasive waterjet cutting is designed to accurately cut delicate, complex patterns in workpieces. It can produce workpieces or features smaller than 300 microns in a range of materials, including in the machining of a titanium-based orthopedic surgical implant for bone repair. Featuring a 0.007" orifice and 0.015" mixing tube combination, the nozzle produces a fine jet stream that can produce a kerf as small as 0.015". It provides a flexible alternative to conventional machining operations by enabling quick turnaround of accurate parts without the need for tool changes or complex fixturing, the company says. Smooth surface finishes can be achieved without the need for secondary machining.
