Ingersoll has released the Chip-Surfer line of modular, solid carbide end mill tips. These cutters feature high-feed geometry for roughing near-net shapes. They are well-suited for roughing small pockets, contouring irregular forms and picking out corners, according to the company. A shallow depth-of-cut strategy accommodates aggressive feed rates compared to ballnose tools.
The face mills are ideal for long-reach applications. These tools are available in both neutral- and positive-geometry options. They are also available with coolant-through options as well. For repeatability, the tips go on and off the shank in seconds with ±0.0005" accuracy.
