Jet Edge’s high-pressure fluid sealing mechanism improves waterjet seal life through metal-on-metal sealing without the use of plastic seals. The mechanism uses two convex curved surfaces in single-line contact with one another to seal ultra-high-pressure fluid at static pressures ranging to 130,000 psi. According to the company, the technology extends seal lives, increases productivity and decreases maintenance costs.
Jet Edge originally developed the seal for its X-Stream pressure intensifier pumps, which produce cutting pressures ranging to 75,000 psi. The technology has been expanded to additional product lines including the Eco-Jet direct-drive pump and several 60,000-psi intensifier pumps. The sealing mechanism eliminates the need for static seals in the Eco-Jet pump and XP intensifiers, the company says, effectively cutting the number of consumable seals in half.
