The 45-degree DGC cutter from Sumitomo Electric Carbide is a general-purpose face mill that accepts double-sided square and octagon inserts. It is said to reduce initial cost and increase productivity in applications ranging from general-purpose to rough milling.
The DGC octagon inserts feature 16 cutting edges available at 3-mm depths of cut. Square inserts offer eight cutting edges at 6-mm depths of cut while providing a quality surface finish, the company says. ZX coating strengthens the insert to extend tool life while increasing wear resistance.
