Iscar’s Flashturn Eco line includes small-sized Isoturn inserts said to provide decreased cost per cutting edge. The inserts are available in a range of geometries, corner radii, chipformers and Sumo Tec carbide grates. WNMG 33, WNMX 34, CNMG 33, CNMX 34, SNMG 33, DNMG 33, TNMG 33 and TNMX 34 geometries are available. The inserts are generally thicker than standard inserts in the same sizes, therefore increasing durability while running at feed rates similar to the larger inserts, the company says.
The 3/8" inscribed circle inserts with WNMG 33 geometry, for example, can cover turning applications in depths of cut ranging from 0.03" to 0.12". According to the company, this range accounts for about 75 percent of turning applications, and the insert is capable of handling these applications with reduced costs over the ½" inscribed circle insert size.
