Kent international presents the KGS-WM surface grinder from the Wizard series. The machine’s spindle is supported by P4 preloaded precision angular contact bearings designed to ensure a maximum runout of 0.0005 mm. The hydraulic system features a specially-designed valve enabling smooth table reversing with a 28-m/min. table speed. According to the company, a separate hydraulic unit and standard oil cooling unit minimize temperature rise of hydraulic oil and support easy maintenance. The machine’s automatic lubricating system is designed to ensure smooth and long-lasting operation in all three axes.
Other features include a Mitsubishi PLC, an LCD touchscreen panel and a Manual Pulse Generate (MPG) for both downfeed and crossfeed. The crossfeed travel is set by the push button on the console, and different crossfeed increments can be set for both rough and finish grinding. The machine’s downfeed mechanism is driven by an AC servomotor with grade C5 precision ballscrew providing movement of 0.001-mm minimum increments.
