Iscar’s SD-SP15 narrow slotting and groove milling cutters feature 1.25"-diameter milling heads with eight teeth ranging from 0.125" to 0.250" in width for maximum depth of cut ranging to 0.315". The heads are made from the company’s IC908 grade and are based on the cutting geometry of its MM-TS Multi-Master heads.
The cutters consist of interchangeable solid carbide T-slot milling heads and cylindrical steel shanks assembled with a spline connection. An adapter with the SP spline connection on one side and the T12 Multi-Master threaded connection on the other side enables the use of all T12 standard Multi-Master shanks. The spline connection is said to optimally transmit torque, ensuring durability to withstand cutting forces during slot milling and bending forces caused by long reach overhang. The cutter heads feature an SP15 internal spline mounted on a matching external spline on the shank, secured by a central screw. The spline connection designation of “15” indicates the connection size. The general-duty cutting geometry of the heads is suitable for efficient slot milling in a range of materials, the company says.
