 The Beyond carbide grade of face grooving inserts and tooling from Kennametal includes three new geometries for small-diameter internal and external applications. The precision-ground and molded styles are available in both flat-edge and full-radius face grooving geometries.

The Beyond carbide grade of face grooving inserts and tooling from Kennametal includes three new geometries for small-diameter internal and external applications.
 
The precision-ground and molded styles are available in both flat-edge and full-radius face grooving geometries. The A4-S inserts are designed for face grooving on parts with diameters ranging from 0.630" to 2.284" (16 to 58 mm) and groove depths ranging from 0.47" to 0.75" (12 to 19 mm).
 
Three chipbreaker geometries are designed to provide increased tool life with more-consistent tool wear, faster material removal rates and improved chip control across a range of face grooving applications and work materials. GMN inserts provide a stable cutting edge, while GMP and GUP chipbreakers feature positive geometry for reduced cutting forces, the company says.
                                                       
Inserts are coupled with a comprehensive portfolio of modular and system toolholders, including boring bars, for maximum versatility. KM or Capto tooling options provide stable toolholding when machining aerospace components; pump and engine parts; and general industrial components; among others.
