The Sprint 65 automatic turning machine from DMG Mori Seiki is equipped with direct-drive technology and three turrets, including a bottom turret with a B axis. The B axis provides a swivel range of -23.5 to +158.5 degrees, making it possible to work at a negative angle even with standard tools. Alternatively, the turning center can be equipped with three turrets without the B axis, and a two-turret entry-level version is also available. The two-turret machine is designed with the twin work-area concept and features a cross-transversable counter-spindle and tailstock combination, enabling parallel machining in two independent work areas.
According to the company, the Trifix precision quick-change interface provides setup times of less than 30 sec. with repeatability less than 6 microns. The turning center is designed for complete machining of bar material ranging to 90 mm (65 mm standard) in diameter with a speed of 5,000 rpm on the main spindle and 7,000 rpm on the counter spindle. The machine also is equipped with Siemens’ Operate 4.5 for complete automation technology ranging from drives to the CNC.
